Lina Walker, Research Director

Lina Walker is the Research Director for the Retirement Security Project.  She earned her doctorate in economics from the University of Michigan in 2005.  Prior to joining the Retirement Security Project, she worked at the Congressional Budget Office on issues relating to Social Security worker and disability benefits and long-term care.  Before earning her doctorate, she worked as a policy analyst for the Maryland General Assembly, providing research and staff support to members of the state legislature.  Her research focuses on understanding the effect of Medicaid long-term care policies on retirement saving, the motivations for inter-generational transfers, and the extent to which financial literacy and other factors influence retirement plan distribution choices.  She is a past recipient of a Steven H. Sandell research award from the Michigan Retirement Research Center.

The Retirement Security Project is supported by The Pew Charitable Trusts, in partnership with
Georgetown University's Public Policy Institute and The Brookings Institution.
